How about you tell her you'd really enjoy something homemade? It'd probably be cheaper than buying something, more meaningful, and you'd have a reason to keep it! You could suggest instead of buying something ths year you'd like to exchange homemade things on valentines day and then you could slip in what you bought for her already as well and say you couldn't resist.
